Client Success Story
From worried to confident: Steve’s story of retiring from a longtime career and landing a new job
Steve called me before Thanksgiving. With anxiety hanging between words he shared his thoughts to retire from his longtime career with no clear plan about what was next. He knew he wanted to keep working in some capacity but was really unsure about how (and where) to translate his skills.
He didn’t know where to start.
He didn’t know what he wanted.
He didn’t feel excited about the retirement date inching forward.
Steve still had 8 months before his decided retirement date and he didn’t want to spend them worried and overwhelmed. He wanted to be thoughtful and intentional about his next steps.
He needed a Transition Coach.
We dove into 3 sessions a month to unpack all of the hurdles and desires on his heart.
He completed an assessment that named his innate strengths.
This helped him shape his resume and have more confidence with applications. He reflected on the skills and values he wanted to bring alive in his next workplace.
This helped shape the types of job descriptions he clicked on and applied for.He got his first interview and we prepped possible questions and responses.
This helped him feel ready to show up at his best.He narrowed in on the type of industry and jobs that he felt most excited about.
This helped him let go of pressure about his timeline and trust that he would find a good fit.He had multiple honest and kind conversations with his wife about their finances, his process, and how they were both feeling.
This helped him feel supported and aligned with the person most dear to him.
After just 9 Coaching sessions, Steve was a changed man.
He was no longer overwhelmed and anxious. Instead, he was confident in his plan and experiencing peace in the journey.I’m pleased to share that just two weeks after our ninth session, Steve reached out with news about a job offer he is really excited about. This is well before his retirement date!
